Do you know what I’ve noticed? All too often, when it comes to sales, people will have you believe there are lots of trade secrets. Well - not here - I believe it’s normal to have questions, and lots of them! I take pride in keeping business jargon free, so below you’ll find answers to the things I’m asked about on the regular and which have helped people on their quest with me to sales mastery. Can you teach me how to sell out my 1:1s, group programs and online courses?

You bet I can! I have dedicated almost two decades (half my life!) to learning everything about different sales strategies and selling. I know what works, what doesn’t work and most importantly I want you to understand that no one magic thing is going to transform your business. My remit is to look at your business as a whole, and to ensure you are promoting your services in a way that is right for YOU - you won’t find any one size fits no-one strategies here - I’m about helping you define YOUR sales style so that we can build your own personal gold standard of selling. So, whether you are pivoting your business, adding a new product or offer to your suite, or want to figure out the best way to sell your services, I’d love to help you find a way to do so that feels natural and automatic (no sleazy vibes here love!).

+ What can I expect to from my business investment with you?

I’ll never make wild or whimsical promises about how much your income will multiply when you work with me because that kind of marketing makes me uncomfortable. What I CAN say though, is that every single one of my 1:1 clients to date have reported a huge surge in confidence in what to say and how to show up for their business with renewed energy, the much-needed certainty they were craving over the actions to take to get them to their goals and a measurable increase in sales. In addition my clients report:

  • Achieving money goals in record time (while it wouldn’t be ethical for me to make any promises, it’s not rare for my clients to sell out their signature services and / or double their income when they work with me)

+ What actually IS selling though Sara?

This is a great question! Selling is (IMO) THE most important skill to master in business. Being able to sell your services is an essential element for any business owner that wants to thrive. It’s what differentiates profitable business owners from talented hobbyists. It is the means by which we book clients and make money. Our sales goals are the starting point for any content or marketing plan and our strategy to fill our books with the clients we desire is the crucial set of actions we need to take to actually make it happen. It’s taking ownership of the success of your business. It’s the vehicle we use to show clients we have the energy they need. It’s the vibe and the atmosphere only you can bring.

It’s the process of demonstrating relevancy and trust and having the self-worth to allow it to flow naturally, over and over again. It’s providing an incredible client experience before any money is exchanged. The more we sell, the more transformation we create and the bigger the impact we can make overall. Pretty cool, huh?!

+ What is selling not?

Selling is not ever about being pushy, manipulative, full-on or any other cliche you can imagine. It’s not something to fear or to be cringed out by, because when done right it’s a natural and effortless and JOYFUL way to connect your energy with the people who need what you have. It’s not about getting on a call with someone and following a script, its everything you do before that point. It’s not to be avoided, nor is it about trying to do what other people, because what works for them won’t work for you. Selling is an energy that has to come from us, and I’m here to help you find your own way of doing it brilliantly.

+ I’m a creative - do I have to learn how to sell?

Well, put simply, while I firmly believe that your success is inevitable, it isn’t going to happen by accident. Whether you are a maker, coach, designer or online business owner, your products and services aren’t going to sell themselves, and expecting your clients to do the hard work finding out all about you so you don’t have to put yourself out there does not a successful business model make. I work with fabulously creative, talented women every day who come to me feeling unconfident and overwhelmed about how to sell, and it’s my job to demystify the process so that you can do it with ease. If you want more clients, more consistency and for everything to feel easier, a sales process is how you get there. Does it mean you have to dedicate your life to selling? No. Does it need to be complicated? No, in fact I champion keeping it simple. But do you need a plan to get the right clients and to keep you on the right path, month in, month out? ABSOLUTELY!

+ How do I know if you’re the right fit?

If you are overwhelmed by the idea of setting sales goals or targets, if you find it difficult promoting yourself online or if you are ready to scale your business but you don’t know what’s missing or the steps you need to take, my sales services can help you. I work with female business owners who want more consistent clients in their business and to feel GOOD about their approach to selling. My clients include coaches, photographers, copywriters, podcasters, entrepreneurs just starting out and more. The women I work with are driven and ambitious and want to fulfil their potential in all that they do. Money is important to them, but it’s also about wanting to experience a level of success they know they are capable of, but haven’t yet achieved, so that they can make more impact in areas they really believe in.

+ Are you going to try and turn me into some kind of extrovert who is always blathering on about why I’m amazing?

Ha! Absolutely not! We’ve all seen selling being done badly and in a really full-on way and I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be sold to in that fashion, nor do I want my clients to be…ever! In fact if I had my way I’d LOVE to see more regulation in the online business world, but until that happens we have a fantastic opportunity to present and provide an altogether higher standard of service for our clients. I’m here to offer an alternative to those OTT approaches and all their rules and scripts and tactics, because what works for them won’t work for us if it makes us a bit sick in our mouths. As part of our work together we’ll work with your own energy, your own personality type and your own rhythm in life to create the approach that works for you. All too often when it comes to “selling” we’ve been presented with endless examples of what it is and how WE MUST do it. But people are having great success all the time without any of that bro marketing stuff, so let’s just be ourselves and get the work in our own way, OK? We know that whatever your area of expertise, having an online profile is a key part of today’s toolkit, and our energy around the way that we show up is mega-important, but that doesn’t mean showing up as something you’re not. Selling is only done well if you’re being yourself and leaning in to your own individual personality - it’s not a one size fits all approach and what works for someone you know, won’t work for you. I’ll help you find your ease with being visible, however that looks for you.

+ What motivates you the most?

Front and centre: empowering women in business (like you!) to believe in your own ability to create and achieve whatever it is that you really, really want, without “shoulds” and judgement and fear and limitation. I’m pushing for financial equality at home and in every sector and earnings beyond your wildest dreams so that you have balance in your life and choice to effect the changes YOU want to see, having the confidence to be stand up and visible, charging your actual worth and not the worth you think you should charge for, teamy vibes, women supporting women, pushing back on limiting beliefs, people pleasing, not confirming, not accepting the status quo, oh I’m just getting started!

Too many women have a fear around selling because they think it holds a certain meaning. I know that self promotion doesn’t come easily or automatically to many of us, but in this 2022 post-pandemic pushback in our quest for financial equality sh!t has got really real and it’s time to neutralise the feelings you may have around selling because they are definitely holding you back, and who’s got time for that?

+ Is it OK to admit that I’m financially ambitious?

YES of bloody course it is! Money is far from the elixir of life but it’s so so important! Is it the only thing I want for you? No. It’s never just about the money - I’m more interested in the possibilities that are unlocked when your business is creating growth and consistent income. Whether you’d like to contribute more to charities you really believe in, are saving up for a deposit on a property or want to create stability for your family that you’ve never had, let’s get your sales mindset right so you can make it happen faster.

+ How are you different to other sales strategists?

Over the past 19 years I have amassed a heady mix of corporate sales and business owner experience which has seen me achieve everything from million pound targets, trading floors and trainings to pivoting to building my own thriving photography business from scratch. In that time I’ve grown fed up of watching amazing, talented, smart women being held back by their fear of selling or the idea of selling in a certain way and it costing them success in their businesses. I am using my almost 20 years of sales experience not to be your guru, but to support you and bring you in on my energy, because it’s absolutely possible for anyone to sell well and convert more clients consistently. Yes, really!

+ You’ve worked in corporate and you’ve had your own business, which was your favourite?

Easiest question I’ve ever answered - having my own business is my favourite! There’s no comparison, I like being in control of what I earn and how I earn it, and not having to wait for an annual review to determine my payrises. The male dominated world of investment banking taught me a lot about how I didn’t want to sell, but the target-driven nature of the work also taught me how to build strategies that would allow me to hit my 7 figure targets which I’m eternally grateful for. Knowing how to hit those targets from scratch and the sound practices of selling are skills are draw on every day in entrepreneurship. Having my own business has taught me the value of selling like myself, not like anyone else. It’s so so important when you’re a business owner to be able to confidently sell who you really are, using personal brand, and that’s an inside job.

+ Who is your typical client?

I work with women across service and product based businesses, as well as those who are employed by bigger companies. My clients are ambitious, talented and wildly passionate about what they do. Typically, when they come to me they have been in business for a while, and are ready for the next level of business but are held back by feelings of discomfort around selling and sales promotion. They are serious, quality-seeking and results driven individuals, and yet they know their approach sales needs attention. They know they can’t get to where they want to go all by themselves. If there’s one thing they love, it’s collaborating with like-minded experts to fashion a proper plan, and that’s where I come in. They are looking for someone to troubleshoot, whether that is finding the bottlenecks in their funnels or launch processes, checking through their sales messaging and copy, or revamping sales goals and processes.

+ What are the limitations of not feeling “good” about selling?

Oh, where to even start? The function of selling is to find the right people to work with, so we need to find a way to do this that doesn’t make us feel awks or the limitations start to spiral. Sometimes its the reason you haven’t been charging your worth. It could be that you’re brimming over with ideas for courses but you aren’t giving yourself permission to put them out into the world. Whether your goals are to earn more money, be able to forecast more consistently,

In the online space, selling is especially about the energy you bring. It’s not a one-off thing, it’s a continuous, rolling process.

+ What can I expect to get out of working with you?

+ What even is mindset anyway?

It’s a word that gets bandied around the internet a lot, especially in the coaching space, so let’s just cover off what it actually means shall we? Mindset in this context is having a healthy approach to promoting yourself and your business. Without getting too “woo” the stories we tell ourselves inside our heads are what drives the results we see in the world, so feeling good about how we sell is very much an inside job. Quite literally the set-up of our mind influences all that we do. Sales strategy and all that I do with my 1:1 clients begins with a look at mindset i.e. the words you use to describe yourself, what the voice in your head says when nobody else is around, and checking which of those stories hold truth. For some of us there are some pretty long standing beliefs around what it means to be successful, to have money or to put yourself out there and sell. To have a healthy mindset requires us to open the kimono on what these self-sabotaging stories are for us. What follows is strategy and the actions around that and then providing an action plan and guidance.

+ When is the best time to invest in working with a sales mentor?

Selling is a daily must and needs doing every day. That doesn’t mean transforming into someone you’re not, but it does mean having a clear plan and a tonne of feel-good energy about what you do.
