Create A Sales Strategy That Lights Up Your Enquiries, In 3 Simple Steps. What is a sales plan, and do I need one? - Sales Expert Sara Dalrymple

What the heck is a ‘sales strategy’!? I hear you ask.

A sales strategy is the process of connecting your brilliant products and services with the people who want and need them.

Simple. It’s not complex, it’s not an enigma - but it’s an ESSENTIAL task you need to act on in your business

Right now, your sales process might look reactive

  • Crossing your fingers and responding to enquiries as they come in.

Or proactive:

  • Taking specific actions to bring the right clients in

Your sales strategy, or you could call it a sales plan, lays out the steps to stay in control of the quality and volume of enquiries, leads and sales coming into your business - no reactive last minute posting to instagram or pinging out an email because you feel like you’ve been quiet for too long.

Why you need a sales strategy - pronto!

Put simply, no matter how amazing you are at what you do, and no matter how amazing your products and services are - it’s not enough on its own to drive the income you’re looking for - especially in the online world.

Your audience needs to feel nurtured, you need to show them who you are and deliver certain information, in a certain order, that makes their decision to purchase a simple yes or no.

If you want more clients and the right clients, committing to your sales plan is an absolute must.

Here’s a starter for 10…

What time and energy you spend creating – whether that’s courses, products, services or lead magnets, it’s only half the job. It needs to be matched by the same amount of time and energy, in your sales strategy. Otherwise all you’ll have is a supply of amazing products and services that nobody wants to buy. And that would be sad!

If you are currently spending almost all your time in creation mode because you are scared of selling, then you need a sales strategy pronto.

My three step sales process is intended to give you the steps to bring clients into your business. Having a process to follow allows you to focus on the right activities every day - marketing, selling and outreach.

My simple 3-step sales strategy that you can apply to your business

Step one: Get in front of the right people

Stop hiding and waiting for your clients to stumble across you by chance – they won’t! Here are some questions to ask yourself so you can start getting in front of more of the right people:

  • Where do the people you want to call clients hang out?

  • Are you visible in the spaces?

  • How can you make new connections with your ideal clients?

  • Can you amplify your impact by collaborating with others?

  • What are you doing to ensure that you are being seen by more people than you were last week?

Step 2: Connect with and nurture your ideal clients

Know your niche and the problems they are having, and provide solutions they can benefit from - for free! Use this to create a ton of content ideas.

Reach out to both your existing audience and your past clients. Build and maintain relationships and keep an understanding of your audience‘s needs. Don’t be beige, be clear about who you are and who are for, AND who you are not for.

In so doing you will help your ideal clients feel even more connected to you. Combine clarity about your services, with content that connects people to you as a brand. Share your values, your wider mission and the things that get you fired up.

Step 3: Invite your crew in!

Make more invitations for people to work with you! For your clients to say yes to you they need to know their options, how you will solve a problem they have and why are you are the right expert to buy from.

Your sales system is how you make sure you’re communicating this regularly.

Don’t hide your products and services. Keep talking about them, why you offer them, why you love what you do, the results your current clients are getting. Your energy around this is what sells.

Bonus point - 4: Make tweaks to your sales strategy as you go

Each month carve out some time to review your sales activities and keep track of what you learn so you can keep coming back to it. Look at what’s working and what’s not, and get expert help for the specific areas you need more support with.

If people aren’t buying yet your clients may not yet feel connected to you. They may not be clear about what you sell or perhaps not yet confident in your expertise. Ask yourself, how can you bolster these areas next month?

My aim with sharing my simple 3-step sales strategy framework is not to get you selling like me (or anyone else) - it's to give you the tools and knowledge to be a confident sales person for YOUR business - and that means taking this framework and making it work for you and your business.
